If you are making an ERP decision for your construction company, much has changed this year. Digitisation has accelerated, with mandatory e-invoicing via Peppol as the clearest example. Other requirements also call for a review of your processes, including CO2 reporting and the digital product passport. At the same time, some software suppliers are changing their licensing models, shifting the cost considerations.

Anyone choosing an ERP today faces a different landscape from a year ago.

For the first time, international ERP platforms are a realistic option for Belgian construction companies. That is why Teamservices is entering into a partnership with RIB Software: we take responsibility for the Belgian localisation, implementation and support of its construction ERP, RIB 4.0. What we previously handled for a number of pilot projects now becomes our full responsibility. You can read the announcement in our joint press release.

The timing is no coincidence. B2B e-invoicing has become mandatory in Belgium, and established suppliers’ cost models are changing. Belgian contractors therefore need a partner who understands both the software and how processes work on site each day. That combination is rare. Teamservices positions itself on the operational side, rather than standing between finance and the site. We ensure that site data reaches finance accurately and on time.

The decision by RIB Software to choose Teamservices has a clear foundation. For eleven years, Teamservices has provided project cost control and implementation services to Belgian construction and infrastructure companies across several ERP systems, including KPD, Business Central and others. Throughout those eleven years, the constant has been our approach, not the software. The RIB partnership builds on that experience.

“RIB did not choose us because we know the software. They chose us because we know Belgian construction processes. That makes us a different kind of partner.”

What we do differently: processes before software

Our conviction is simple: software is a means, not an end. Most ERP projects stall because the supplier sells software and the consultant sells advice, while nobody takes responsibility for designing the processes that connect the two.

Teamservices deliberately bridges that gap: between finance and operations, and between supplier and client. It is also why the same team can implement RIB 4.0, KPD and Business Central. The methodology stays the same; only the software changes. Why we believe neither the supplier nor an advisory-only consultant can guide your implementation is the subject of a separate article.

“Clients are not buying modules; they are looking for answers to process questions. We start with the existing process, help optimise it and then make the software follow. That makes an enormous positive difference, both to the approach and to implementation time.”
— Dennis Michiels, Senior Application Expert at Teamservices

That bridging role is not just a theory. Over the years, our experts have developed best practices and process templates that accelerate ERP implementations in construction and infrastructure companies, from KPD and Business Central to RIB 4.0. This expertise, spanning several platforms and types of construction company, is what led RIB to choose Teamservices.

The benefits are particularly clear in estimating.

“Estimators are trained to be precise. A tender calls for something different. Resolving that difference is a process question, not a software question.”
— Dennis Michiels, Senior Application Expert at Teamservices

How we reduce pricing time for construction companies from six weeks to a few days is explained in this separate article.

RIB 4.0: a global construction platform, adapted for Belgium

RIB Software is an international company with European roots, sixty years of construction industry experience and more than 550,000 users worldwide. RIB 4.0 is a platform designed around construction, rather than a general ERP with a construction module added on.

“A construction module added to an accounting package is not the same as a platform built around construction. You notice the difference immediately in estimating and project controls.”
— Ward Ooms, Senior Application Expert at Teamservices

That distinction matters for Belgian contractors: it determines how well estimating, integrated project controls and the links between BIM, procurement and planning work together. Teamservices adds the Belgian layer that makes a global platform usable locally for Belgian construction companies. What RIB 4.0 offers that accounting-led ERPs do not, and why construction companies should pay attention, is explored in more detail here.

What Belgian localisation really means

Every software supplier claims to support Belgium. Few show what that means. We assess support for Belgian requirements in construction software one area at a time, with four clear answers: is it standard functionality, does it require client-specific configuration, is it delivered through an integration, or is it on the roadmap as a future feature?

We apply the same framework to RIB 4.0. We identify where the software is strong, where integration or configuration is needed, and where a feature is still on the roadmap.

“A global platform such as RIB 4.0 becomes useful only when someone brings Belgian requirements into it. That is precisely the role Teamservices has taken on to help construction companies through their digital transformation.”
— Dennis Michiels, Senior Application Expert at Teamservices

For you, that is the difference between a choice based on marketing and one based on facts.

What does this look like for a Belgian contractor? Herbosch-Kiere, which specialises in complex infrastructure works in and around water, brought estimating, site operations and Belgian price revision rules together in a single workflow based on RIB iTWO and RIB 4.0. Read the full case study on RIB Software’s website to see how the contractor replaced fragmented information and manual entry with one coherent environment, from tender to project handover.

Where this is heading: from BIM model to purchase order

We are clear about where the sector stands today: this is a direction, not a finished product. But the direction is clear. Picture an apartment building modelled in BIM. On the fifth floor, the model shows every appliance that needs to be ordered. Today, that becomes a spreadsheet, a series of emails and several days of administration. In the intended workflow, a single action sends the order, with quantities, specifications and delivery dates already known. Some parts already work in RIB 4.0 today. This vision also anchors our presence at Digital Construction Brussels 2026. How a single model can lead to an automatic purchase order is explored in a separate article.

Why we deliberately migrate as little data as possible

In many ERP implementations, the biggest delay comes from migrating master data, not from the software. Customer lists, suppliers, project codes and cost centres: every item requires a decision about what should and should not be transferred. Every decision takes time from someone who should be doing their day-to-day work.

“In my three most successful implementations, almost no data was migrated. That is not a coincidence; it is the approach. Clients often initially want to transfer all historical data, until they see what it contains. Once they first realise what can be left behind, things become calmer. The data we build together while setting up the new platform and as you work is clean from day one.”
— Davy Smits, Digital Transformation Expert at Teamservices

Our approach reverses that logic. We start with established best practices, set up a clean system environment and build your master data as your team needs it. This not only speeds up go-live, often to six months rather than two years, but also produces cleaner data than a separate data-cleansing phase.

Why a clean start usually beats data migration, and which data you should take with you, is explained in detail here.

Your next step starts with a conversation

We are excited about what this partnership makes possible, but the most important question is not what it means for Teamservices and RIB. It is what it could mean for you.

If you have an ERP question today, you do not immediately need an implementation project. First, you need a useful conversation with someone who understands your situation without a sales agenda. Someone who can tell you when RIB 4.0 suits your needs and when another package would work better. Someone who knows Belgian requirements and which questions you should ask every supplier.

The conversation takes about an hour. It is free, without obligation, and leaves you with practical advice.
