Davy Smits helps construction companies align their processes, software and project monitoring. He brings together management’s questions and the day-to-day work of procurement, site teams and administration.
He has more than 25 years of experience in construction and has supported over 70 ERP implementations. He draws on that experience both when improving existing systems and when introducing new software.
His background
Construction was part of Davy’s life from an early age: his father was a technical engineer. Davy studied Applied Economics at the University of Antwerp.
He first spent eight years at a construction company before becoming an ERP consultant for the sector. This gave him an understanding of both how a contractor operates and the software supplier’s perspective.
That experience helps him judge what a system can resolve and which issues first require agreement between people or departments.
How Davy works
Davy asks questions until the underlying problem is clear. He stays calm when interests conflict and speaks up when he believes an approach will not work. With your people, he examines who adds information, who checks it and who needs to use it next.
He also considers future project monitoring. Posted invoices alone are not enough for a reliable forecast: open orders, progress and costs still to come also matter. Those connections need to be reflected in the processes and the system from the outset.
With the Teamservices team, he carries the decisions through into configuration, training and support after go-live. He also helps clarify information needs and responsibilities in project cost control.
