The question \u201cShould we digitise?\u201d has long been outdated in Belgian construction. What clients ask us today is: how do we do it, which system should we use, and who takes responsibility for connecting the software to the way our operations really work?<\/p>\n

Three forces are coming together this year. The first is regulation. Since 1 January 2026, structured B2B e-invoicing via Peppol has been mandatory between Belgian VAT-registered businesses. It is now a basic requirement for every financial system in the sector.
The second is commercial. Established suppliers are adjusting their licensing models, often towards SaaS, with pricing and migration implications that not all clients anticipated.
The third is operational. Design & Build (DB) is gaining ground in Belgian tendering, while most ERP systems are built around accounting-led workflows that were not designed to support it at scale.<\/p>\n

Together, these forces create a decision point that comes around perhaps once a decade: choosing the ERP that will become your construction company\u2019s central system. Getting it right provides a stable foundation for the next five to ten years. Getting it wrong leads to recurring reconciliation problems, audit findings and manual corrections month after month.<\/p>\n

That may sound obvious, but the opposite happens in practice. The supplier sells the licence before process design is complete. The client chooses a package based on demonstrations and references, then tries to fit the organisation around it. The consultant arrives afterwards to fill the gaps.
